As a veteran and father watching my boys grow up in the Shenandoah Valley...
I've seen firsthand how our community faces critical challenges that demand immediate attention from Richmond. The challenges we face aren't polarizing; they're kitchen table issues, they’re Virginia issues. When federal support retreats, our state government must advance. We need practical solutions that work for our farmers, our families, and our future.
I've served our nation, and now I'm asking to continue serving our community in Richmond. Together, we can build a stronger Virginia that protects our rural character while creating opportunities for our children to thrive right here at home. Our community's future depends on the choices we make today.
As your Delegate, I'll fight for...
Cost of Living & Family Economic Security
Rising costs are crushing family budgets. I will advocate for state-level tax relief for working families making under $75,000 and expand Virginia Fresh Match to double SNAP benefits at farmers' markets.
Predatory lending targets our most vulnerable communities. Virginia needs to implement strict lending regulations and support community-based financial literacy programs. One of the best ways to ensure lenders are treating all Virginians fairly is to establish alternative lending options through state-backed credit unions.
Agricultural Heritage & Food Security
Our family farmland is slipping through our fingers: Legislators must strengthen preservation laws through enhanced Agricultural and Forestal Districts Act protections and create tax incentives for long-term agricultural leases.
Our kids can't afford to be farmers: We should expand the Virginia Farm Link Program with grants and mentorship opportunities and develop state-backed low-interest loans for first-generation farmers.
Rural Healthcare Access
Hospital closures threaten lives in our communities: Virginia must increase funding for rural healthcare infrastructure and expand loan repayment programs for rural providers to invite more new doctors, nurses, and health specialists.
Limited medical services in rural areas: Legislators should index towards mobile health clinics and telehealth networks while we reform certificate of need requirements to encourage new facility development.
Education Access & Support
Our public schools are under attack: Legislation is required to level (Increase) per-pupil spending and establish equitable funding formulas across all districts and modernize facilities through state infrastructure grants. Public dollars need to stay in public schools.
Close the Special education resource gap: Expand IEP support funding and specialist staffing regardless of district wealth. Create universal access to early intervention services.
Food insecurity directly affects learning: Virginia should implement universal free breakfast and lunch programs. Extend meal programs through summer months and establish weekend food backpack initiatives, working in concert with local growers for a two-birds, one stomach approach.
Job Growth, Accessibility, and Local Governance
Education doesn't stop at 18. District 31 needs more access to advanced job training: Every dollar spent supporting our regional technical training centers for trades, communications, and logistics can result in a 10x return on that investment. Expanding programs at existing community college partners and providing tax incentives for businesses offering apprenticeships are economical paths to accessing the opportunity provided by the I-66 and I-81 and Virginia Inland Port zones.
